The main meeting on Bank Holiday Monday is at Sandown where the centrepiece is the Group 2 Henry ll stakes at 3.25. The front running Tungsten Strike represents our list to follow. I see that he is a 5/1 shot but none of the experts go for him. This is possibly because his wins have all come on a sound surface.
There are only 4 runners fior the listed 2 year old race at 2.50. There was plenty to like about Excellent Art’s debut win when he was pushed clear of his rivals by Frankie Dettori. There was talk of his being stepped up to 6 furlongs but I see that he is kept to the minimum trip here. Mind you 5 furlongs at Sandown in testing going is probably the equivalent to 6. I would recommend that you keep an eye on the complete outsider, Dress to impress who is making her debut. You may remember her sister, Rag Top, who won 4 times as a juvenile a few years ago.
Bijouterie went into my notebook with an encouraging 3rd at Nottingham and I am hoping she will get her head in front at Redcar 2.05. Robert Winston rides for Alan Swinbank.
I would not be surprised if Shamrock Bay took the 3..15. She was ruuner up to a handicap snip at Nottingham last week and handles the ground. Again Robert Winston is the jockey.
Shamrock Bay’s half sister Spanish Lace is my fancy in the 4.55. A winner over 9 furlongs at Wolverhampton, the additonal 2 furlongs here should bring out the best in her.
My main fancy at Chepstow is Trompette in the 4.40. The ground should suit her.
See you tomorrow.
