Market Rasen

1.45 Durable Man and Royal Irish Hussar look the pick of this field. The former was trained by Roger Varian on the flat and was a winner over 10F and is my selection.

5.05 Long Lunch and Operatic Heights have both done enough to suggest they can win a race of this nature. The former is well thought of by his trainer and looks the likely winner.

The jumps season is just starting to get going and the action tomorrow comes from Perth. Lucinda Russell has a few runners entered with a couple being of particular interest.

Mysteree goes in the 2.20 which is a novice hurdle. Second in a point to point at Tallow earlier this year he then showed signs of ability when 3rd in a truly run bumper at Perth in April. Whatever he does tomorrow he is one to keep an eye on.

In the 5.40 Ballyben looks quite well weighted and is my selection for tomorrow.

I have reached the stage when I am looking forward to the jumps season after a pretty lean period on the flat.

Not much really appeals tomorrow. At Doncaster Aljamaaheer (3.15) and Greatwood (4.25) have possibilities but are likely to be short enough.

At Chester Gatepost in the 2.20 looks on a fair mark and should handle the conditions.
