Today’s only selection was a non runner.
Sedgefield
1.30 Bit of a Jig
Southwell
1.25 Master Rajeem is likely to appreciate this trip and is one to consider. Sego Success is well thought of by connections and is narrowly preferred.
3.20 Delta Forty

3.20 Delta Forty

3.10 Tarabela

12.20 Frankie’s Promise
12.50 Eduard
1.20 Meadowcroft Boy
Fairyhouse
1.10 Don Cossack
2.15 Jezki
Leicester
3.40 Royal Regatta
Bangor
12.30 The front two in the betting have obvious claims but at the price Chestertern looks value. Bred for this sort of trip he ran well in defeat over a trip on the sharp side last time out.
2.35 Western Jo looks on a fair mark.
3.45 Bitofapuzzle.
Fairyhouse
12.55 Smashing
1.55 Foxrock
Newbury
12.55 It is interesting that connections of Black River send him straight over fences rather than exploit what might be a workable handicap mark over hurdles.
1.20 The Druids Nephew looks on a fair mark and the ground should suit.
2.25 At Fisher’s Cross is the one to beat.
3.00 Katenko finished last season with wins at Sandown and Cheltenham. There may be more to come although the ground is a possible negative as his winning form has been with plenty of cut. Rocky Creek is held in high regard by Paul Nicholls who has targeted this race for the horse. Recent Carlisle winner Cloudy Too comes into the equation. Richard Johnson has the ride which is a plus.
Kim Muir winner Same Difference will be suited by the ground and should run well. Racing Plus Chase winner Opening Batsman has been pulled up on his last two starts and may not be suited by the track. Highland Lodge lost nothing in defeat when second at Wincantion last month but is at his best in testing ground. Loch Ba is a course winner. His jumping has improved and is not on a bad mark. Hadrian’s Approach had a successful season as a novice and comes from a stable with a good recent record in this race.
A trappy old race this but my selections are Rocky Creek and Hadrian’s Approach.
3.35 If we ignore their latest runs both Greywell Boy and Fairy Roth have live chances.
Newcastle selections
12.05 Green Flag
1.05 Oscar Rock
Musselburgh
12.40 Dispour
Newbury
12.30 Calipto is a big danger here but Baradari could be the value from the in form stable of Venetia Williams
1.30 This looks made for Western Warhorse. At bigger prices two to consider are Mickie and Amigo.
2.40 Upsilon Bleu looks reasonably treated and is a fair price.
3.45 Vazaro Delafayette was disappointing at Wincanton last time but is worth another chance.
Newbury
1.30 Bold Cuffs (ew)
2.05 Just a Par
3.15 Get Back in Line; Irish Saint and Chatterbox all have strong claims. The latter pair look ideal types for novice chasing and on this occasion I will choose the improver Get Back in Line to prevail.
3.45 Thomas Brown
Taunton
1.05 The Skyfarmer
Fontwell
1.10 Junction Fourteen has shown enough promise in his two runs to date to indicate that he is up to winning this.
2.10 Seebright is a course winner, goes well fresh and is 211 when ridden by Jack Doyle.
Wetherby
1.20 Diamond King will be expected to win here although a short price is likely.
3.30 Shanandou won a point to point at Ballybunion and looks the type to do well under rules.
Lingfield
12.30 Down Ace
1.00 Pendra
2.00 Jean de Florette
Sedgefield
12.20 Heath Hunter
Exeter
12.55 Doctor Harper
1.35 Rocky Bender
Small fields at Ascot render that meeting a disappointment from a betting point of view. Zarkandar and Josses Hill make some appeal but the odds look poor value.
Haydock
12.45 The top 3 in the betting could all have a case made fro them. My preference is for Far West.
1.50 Blue Fashion is an exciting newcomer for the Henderson yard having finished 4th in a Grade 1 in France. More of that is unbeaten in two starts and could be anything. Condaw Kaempfer won on this card last season and looks attractively handicapped. Special Catch looks another on a winnable mark. It is hard to separate this quartet but I am going for Clondaw Kaempfer with an each way saver on Special Catch.
2.25 Two Rockers, Master of the Sea and Gevrey Chambertin look the ones to concentrate on. Two Rockers is just preferred.
3.00 This could be an opportunity for Silviano Conti to repeat his success in the race last season
