Diary: Boxing Day

Plenty of meetings to go at on Boxing Day. We will start at Kempton Park where the day begins with a novice hurdle at 12.50. Jollyallan has won both his starts over hurdles, at Exeter and Newbury. Sempre Medici, a classy performer on the flat, won on his debut over hurdles at Cork despite not impressing with his jumping. Bringithomeminty winner of a Kempton all weather bumper makes his hurdles debut and is well thought of by connections.

Jollyallan is my selection.

1.25 Katgary has been disappointing in his two starts this term so I am going to look elsewhere for the winner of this race. Stellar Notion is yet to finish out of the first two and is preferred to The Skyfarmer.

2.00 Sausalito Sunrise, Carraig Mor and Kirak will provide stiff opposition but my selection is Exeter winner Saphir Du Rheu.

2.35 Faugheen looks the likely winner.

3.10 Silviniaco Conti is a worthy favourite and may well win but at the odds I am inclined to look elsewhere for value. Al Ferof and Menorah both have chances but at the current price of 8/1 my selection is Dynaste.

3.45 Alternatif was a winner over hurdles in France and could be well handicapped here on his debut for David Pipe.

Fontwell

12.55 Miss Sophierose impressed when winning a Worcester bumper and looks to have a bright future over hurdles.

Huntingdon

2.25 Barenga won last Boxing Day and is on the same handicap mark.

Leopardstown

12.50 Joshua Lane has some strong bumper form and looks the one to beat here is he takes to hurdling.

1.20 Kalkir won well at Fairyhouse and looks an exciting prospect.

2.55 Vautour is impossible to oppose.

Limerick

2.05 The two I like are Gilgamboa and Adriana Des Mottes. It is tempting to follow the Mullins camp here particularly as his runner has the valuable mare’s allowance but I am going with Gilgamboa with fingers firmly crossed.

Market Rasen

2.10 I wanted to have at least one selection from each meeting. Market Rasen gave me the most problems but in the end I plumped for the aptly named Make me a Fortune. He is a course winner last time out and looks to be improving.

Cheltenham

12.50 Hargam, Stars Over the Sea and Karezak form the short list for this race. My selection is Hargam who ran with much promise when runner up here last time out.

12.50 Champagne West has run well at Cheltenham on his last two starts and took to fences on his debut over the larger obstacles.

2.00 Attaglance is potentially well treated.

2.35 This looks a competitive heat. Preference is for Blaklion.

3.10 The New One may well be too good here but at the odds I will take a chance on Vaniteux who is open to improvement.

3.45 Volnay de Thaix is anmother improver from the Henderson stable.
