I brought a worrying losing sequence to an end at Chester today with three winners including Overturn in my lucky race, the Chester Cup.

Aiden O’Brien does well at Chester and his Await the Dawn looks the likely winner of the 2.20 tomorrow. Forte Dei Marmi could well be up to winning a race in this sort of company but I am not sure that a small field is his ideal.

O’Brien has the likely favourite in the 2.55 in Treasure Beach but I am inclined to take him on with the unexposed Nathaniel who is bred to excel at a mile and a half.

I am going for an outsider in the 4.35. Jack Smudge is well thought of by his trainer and will give us a run for our money at a decent price.

The 5.10 looks to be all about Pekan Star and Nibani. Although they are both 4 year olds they have only had 5 races between them and they have clearly had training problems.

At Goodwood Dubai Queen is my best bet in the 3.15.

Aiden O’Brien has won 2 of the last 3 runners of the Chester 2.30 and his Wonder of Wonders is well fancied. I don’t have a strong fancy in the Chester Cup this year but Overturn is well drawn and has form on quick ground.

In the 3.30 Beat the Bell was my initial selection but he has a very poor draw in stall 11. Colombian has shown promise in his 2 starts thus far and looks the one to beat in the 4.05. El Wasmi could go well at a bigger price.
